High Desert Field Guides

About Us

Dick and Kathryn have lived in the Santa Fe area for several years after moving here from the Midwest.

Kathryn's experience with the Southwest started in 1988 with the first class of docents at the Eiteljorg Museum of the American Indians and Western Art, located in Indianapolis. She was an active guide there for 12 years. She has planned and conducted tours related to the American West, Western Art and the American Indians. Kathryn is currently a docent at the Museum of Indian Arts and Culture in Santa Fe.

Dick has re-kindled an early interest in archaeology since moving to Santa Fe. He is an active volunteer for the Laboratory of Anthropology in Santa Fe where he has participated in field archaeology activities. He specializes in graphics, architecture and mapping projects for the "Lab". He is currently working with the Office of Archaeological Studies on mapping projects in the Galisteo Basin.

Both Dick and Kathryn are frequent visitors to interesting locations and historic places in the Southwest.
